Welcome to real life - the good way! ππ¨
It’s time to come back to living the right way. Leave the screens behind and enjoy life again… in the fast lane, where we learn the best. ππ¨
After leaving Liddes, Martigny, Vevey, Geneva, and France, I find myself in Spain πͺπΈ.
Starting my journey yesterday at 4:30 pm in Marseille, I battle late-day traffic, having just read the invitation from my Helpx host in Spain. Before I leave Marseille, I fill up my tank with Euro 95 for €1.67 and find a parking spot around 11 pm, just after a quick stop at the Novotel and McDonald's in Perpignan π.
This morning, I wake up around 6 am, read my class materials, and set off while the rain drizzles down π§️, greeting me to Spain with the changing landscapes and coastal vibe of Costa Brava π️. Crossing the border into Spain, I head towards Gerona, where my host is located. The old douanier posts at the border stand as relics of a time before the European Union, and I make my way smoothly to the first stop at the Repsol service station ⛽. The light morning traffic—mainly trucks with a few personal cars—ushers in the daybreak along the E15 π . I marvel at how life, and my guide God, always lead me to new places. For that, I am grateful π.
At the service station, I order tea and a chocolate croissant, just like in France ☕π₯. I strike up my first conversation in Spanish, explaining that it’s my first time in Spain alone, traveling from France by car π. The helpful attendant tells me about Catalunya, and I sit down to enjoy my tea—still steaming hot—and my chocolate croissant, which costs only €1.65 and €1.35, respectively. The lower costs in Spain are a pleasant surprise πΈ.
As locals come in for their morning coffee and pastries, much like in France, I work out a route to Gerona on my laptop π», listen to the local dialect and learn some words, and manage to get some work done with the perfect Wi-Fi connection π.
As the day continues to break, the mists over the Spanish trees create a peaceful atmosphere π². I allow myself to relax and reflect π§. Once again, I’ve made it to a new adventure—this time, crossing through Switzerland, France, and now Spain π. What more does the world have to offer?
Next stop: the Gerona Cathedral ⛪, and then onto the coastal vibes of Lloret de Mar π!
